Can children fast?

If a child is below 16 years of age and is completely healthy (not suffering from any health problem), then he does not need to fast everyday. A 12-hour gap between his dinner and breakfast is enough.

However, if a child is suffering from a chronic disease, it will be beneficial for him/her to fast for 14 hours every night.
